Pooyan's Revenge!

If any of you had an Apple in the old days, you'll swear this is familiar--This is an upgrade in every way. The pig now fires a slingshot, instead of archery, but materially, this is the same game, with a HUGE graphical upgrade!
Basically, the idea is to prevent the wolves from reaching the top (That old cartoon convention of balloons lifting people off the ground...), by either popping the balloons or hitting the wolves 3 times each. They plummet to a hilarious cartoon-style "death". There's also Snowballs and Electroballs, each with even better "death"!
More importantly, since even the "killing" in this game is nonviolent and bloodless, it'll be good for even the smallest children!
If you've ever played Night Raid, Paratrooper, or Pooyan, this game will be an old friend...I loved it!

No, no, no, you can't just do that..

Classic games stand the test of time for a reason: gameplay. You can't just take the Pooyan recipe, put absolutely no thought into your remake and expect it to sell, let alone, work. This is Pooyan done wrong, and the text for the into proves it: nobody's "grabbing your friends for dinner" (that was the premise of Pooyan), they're just out to cut your rope with a pocket knife. Say it.

If they were going to do a remake of this game, they should have come out and done it completely new and blatantly. It's clear that what made Pooyan work, was "rectified" in a way that completely throws the gameplay off balance by creating questionable problems while turning it into a shoot'em'up/down.

In Pooyan, you couldn't shoot the wolves at the body, they'd hurl a rock at you if you went for it. Here, you can shoot at the body three times and the wolf goes down. With a rock, yes. An electric snowball, yes. But when I put a bullet to a wolf, especially in the face? I expect them to go down. The headshot is the staple of today's gaming, and if you're gonna get violent, don't be halfway about it.

I'm sure Pooyan players would have bought this in droves if the blood went flying all over the place.. look at Crimsonland for instance: Robotron, Smash TV, Total Carnage, Crimsonland. It's been done, and it's been done with style, and thought.

So anyway, if the wolves reach the top of the screen, they will cut the rope and you will lose a life, period, end of story. Rectification to game balance? Giving us a lot of extra lives.

They finally hand you your own rifle at level 30, fully wronging every non-violent decision of the previous levels, and that's when they game shows just how horribly it's all been put together. You can pop multiple balloons with one rifle shot, but no combo reward.

It doesn't work, guys, it just doesn't work that way.
