Brilliant Game

This is an awesome game from a series of brilliant games. I have been playing the series since exile 2, and believe me, it is the story that is so awesome and captivating not the graphice or sound. It is even better when you play all the other games in the series to truly get hooked on a wonderful saga.
Looking forward to more.

Pretty Good!

I myself really enjoy all of the newer SpiderWeb games (Avernum 4, Avernum 5, Geneforge 3, and Geneforge 4. If you really don't like game that are low on graphics this is not for you. But the overall gameplay is pretty great.

Remember Exiles

This game is great. I like it, because it's so alike EXILE III: Ruined World from Spiderweb Software too. I've spent hours playing Exile - and now I have a 3D version of it. Of course, Avernum IV has a lot of differences, but the atmosphere is the same, even the story begins like the one in Exile.

Tips & Tricks for 'Avernum IV':

The Alien Swords and Alien Cloaks (I forget the name of the aliens here) are needed for a Quest MUCH later in game. DO NOT SELL THEM! Oddly, there's no hint given that you should hang onto them, and shopkeepers will gleefully give you 1/4 their value, same as any other loot...You'll just regret it later!

How to defeat Torment difficulty: Battle Tricks

In torment mode, you've to be prepared always since everything, even middle-level rat, is capable of ripping you off in one turn. So effective battle plan is a key.

Save ALWAYS
F3 is a quick key to save, and F4 is to load it. Use this short key always, so that you won't have to tire of dying, or proceed with 2 or 3 party members left(as the dead won't gain any exp)

Door Blocking Technique
This one is quite simple. If there's a door exist in battle, use it. Go hide behind it. Pop out to shoot your enemies that then when their turns are about to come, close the door. When your turn comes, open the door and shoot again. This trick could be use so often throughout the game.

Lure the Enemy out of its horde
When confronting a group of enemies, make it easier by move one of your member to the spot the 1 or 2 enemies of the group could see him. Then, in combat mode, skip waiting a turn or two until that 1 or 2 enemies will run out to you. Do this again until there left only the boss alone, and that's a lot easier.

Potential of Staying in Combat Mode
You'll get an extra turn if the enemy pops out while you're in combat mode. Chitrachs and the bug's eggs are the obvious examples. After they take you down without warning, load the save again, then stay in combat mode before everything happens (even it needs a character to step over a place before the monsters come out, do it in combat mode.) And you'll survive.

Kill BEFORE they talk
Some NPCs are sort of you talk, then battle begins. Load the save game again then kill him or her, or even them, right away. The dead never talks.

And above all, ALWAYS save your progress.

To ALWAYS succeed in stealing, find a chest in a room, with no NPCS INSIDE the room, and no windows. Walk in a circle to make sure none of your characters are blocking the door, then CLOSE THE DOOR! You'll be able to loot in complete privacy, and always succeed WITHOUT getting anyone mad at you! Great for ALL stages of the game, as money will never weigh you down, that I saw (Plus, you can NEVER have too much money! VERY realistic, that!)

Advanced Art of Stealing

You can lawfully steal outside the deadend room also. By arranging all of your characters to stay out of the NPCs sights(such as behind the wall), before pick it up at that no-NPC-spotted-you moment, even though they're just 3 blocks away. And you'll be success in stealing!
  • But this can only use in some places, not all, though.

    Minor Tips

backtostart as you might know, this is a cheat which send you back to Fort Monastery. If you find trouble with enemies and about to dead, with the last save is about two hours ago, you can use this cheat to fly away rightly, and safely. This is the mildest form of cheat that you can use and still claim that you play this game as a good player.
