Outstanding!

When I first look at the title of this game: Astroavenger II, I know it will be a great game. I have played the first one, though boring, it has a unique shopping and upgrading system, which it is even better in this sequel.

Instead of purchasing armour and energy cell upgrades, you can have new ships in this sequel. And in an addition to repairing and purchasing weapons, you get a new option: Droids. You can buy them to attack your enemies or to defend yourself from enemy fire. With this refreshing new addition, you can apply more strategies to this thrilling action game.

The graphics and music, both greatly enhanced after the first one, well-polished and detailed they are. The opening movie is also of good quality, which in most games don't.

The downsides I found in the first version is wiped out in the sequel: Repetitive. The new combinations of enemies now make up more variating levels, you won't say something like: "Oh, it is THIS ship plus a defense gun again!" Every level got a different arrangement and this keeps you from feeling bored.

Excellent and addicting vertical scrolling shooter, it is. Highly recommended for action players, especially those who has quick reflexes.

A great and exciting game

I like this kind of shooting game, not easy to die and still quite enjoying. To beat the last big boss, you should use Secret Weapon and buy a lot of bombs. I can go through it by just one life. As money is for spending, remember whenever you have money, try to upgrade your ship as much as possible !

Good Selection

A fresh shooter with good weapon selection. Energy drain is a problem as usual but overall a good shooter. The music is rather repetitive and not all that interesting.

Tips & Tricks for 'Astro Avenger 2':

Your main concern in the first two episodes will be the Energy problem: If you buy the third weapon too early(like me), you will have Energy shortage with your first and second ships.

A trick that helps to conserve energy:

Anti-Laser driod should be your first priority, since there are little missile users in the 1st and 2nd episodes.
But as you advanced to the 3rd or 4th episodes, there will be more and more missile users, so you will want to have AT LEAST two Air-raid driods.
Bear in mind that Air-raid driods will be destroyed easily if you don't have Anti-Laser driods to defend them.

Another spoiler about the secret weapon in case you can't get it firing continuously:

Now,In the 1st & 2nd chapter upgrade your ship for better missiles, energy storage & armor. Also buy the 3rd laser for
better gathering of cash upgrade it 3X I recommend to
clean the enemies.2nd,In 3rd Chapter Buy the 4th Laser of the game which is Multi-target Upgrade it in Minimum of 4X
for better cleansing. But your 1st priority is your SHIP
your ship must be at Version 5 before you enter the Final Chapter to withstand Massive Assaults.2nd Priority is the Laser Save Enough Cash to buy the 5th laser & upgrade it to maximum level that will be effective in Chapter 5.3rd Priority is your Secondary weapon Buy the Nuclear Bombs when your ship is in Version 4 since nuclear bomb is available buy it to cleanse the area but DON'T BE AN EXTRAVAGANT. because 3000 each. The 4th prioroty is the Drones you must have the following: 1 Anti-Laser 1 Anti Air
3 Repair Drones

Your first droid should be the Antilaser droid. Although it's tempting - don't buy the repair droid as the first droid - it requires the ship to stand still to repair it. But: without defense droids you will have to move the ship around a lot, leaving no time for the repair droid to do it's job.

Sell the missiles early in the game to get some extra cash. Especially the regular missiles are pretty useless.

If those green swarm-pods annoy you: trigger them while they are still far away, then retreat the ship to the bottom of the screen. This makes it a lot easier to shoot the swarm ships, since they cannot surround you so fast.

Turrets, while on the ground, cannot be hit by most weapons. They will eventually raise, but you can also trigger them earlier by just moving the ship close to them.

Skip the second weapon and save the money for the third one. Probably it's one of the best in the game (especially, since it can attack turrets on the ground). Unfortunately it has a high energy consumption, so you will need to upgrade the ship, too.

A trick that helps to conserve energy: There is usually a Immortality bonus in a level, when you are in Immortal mode, crash into your enemies, crashing is by far the most powerful attack you can ever "perform", and it is both Energy Efficient and Cash Efficient since it cost nothing.

Another spoiler about the secret weapon in case you can't get it firing continuously: The secret weapon consumes 500 plasma(cash) each shot normally, and 100 plasma each shot when you get "Super Laser" bonus.

  • Your first droid should be the Antilaser droid. Although it's tempting - don't buy the repair droid as the first droid - it requires the ship to stand still to repair it.
