Not the best shooter ever

I have just finished this game and I only played it based on the reviews I read. No, this is not the best shooter I have ever played. You can buy all of your upgrades by the 4th level and the game play is actually a little boring. How hard is it to sit with your left mouse button held down and just avoid some of the bullets fired at you? There are at least 2 immortal bonuses for every level that has any difficulty so you really have no reason to die, ever. I finished the game with 12 lives left over. This game is far too simple to be called the greatest shooter ever.

Excellent space shooter

AstroAvengers is a very well polished game.
It's a top-down vertical scroller with free movement of your ship. You progress through the levels and gain upgrades to your weapons and armor. There are 50 levels, and it's all quite chaotic.

Rendered models and lightmaps really make a difference in this game as you blast your way with explosions so big they shake your screen (really, reslly hard and well done shaking effect). Sound and music is well done also.

Near the end of the game you'll be able to purchase every upgrade so order doesn't really matter. I like the Crusher as my weapon of choice, although the Damager is also quite nice with it's multiple lock-on beam lasers.

I was hoping the end boss would have been more difficult, but I just brought along 100 Nukes before the fight and he went down easy (although I think I used them all).

All in all AstroAvengers delivers an excellent arcade space shooter, and I highly recommend it.

3.earn money.
4.directly buy 4th laser.it is the best of all.
5.upgrade it to level 5.

Switching Weapons Login to edit this tip
You can switch to any gun you have at any time by pressing the number keys.
  • This is very important when upgrading to a new gun. A new non-upgraded gun is often less powerful than the gun it is replacing and it can be very helpful to switch back to the old one. Also, different guns are more effective against some types of enemies.
Based on 5 ratings, average score is 3.4.

If you're looking to beat this game as easily as possible, don't purchase any guns except for the last one (executor). A lvl 5 driller (starting weapon) with a lvl 2 battery (so you can fire forever) is enough firepower to beat the first 2 worlds without any trouble with the help of some straight missles (to kill capital ships that fire lasers straight down, shoot missles down the center of them immediately after they finish shooting)

So once you've got lvl 5 driller, save up until you have lvl 3 battery and 220K, then get executor and upgrade it to 3rd level (until that point, the lvl 5 driller is better). After that upgrade your battery first, then the executor up to lvl 5 (keeping battery level > executor level so that you can always fire forever), and then you can take out anything quickly & you'll rack up money for armor upgrades, lots of missles, and any other guns you feel like checking out.

All I purchased to beat the game and get top score (mike) is the laser that looks like a tracter beam (primary weapon) with all the upgrades full battery and a few nukes which you are definatly going to need in world four, I believe. A nice way to beat the world 2 boss is to stay at the lower right hand of the screen. Don't worry about being shot at with the missles, there is a bug in that location which makes you invincible. :) Trick: just for fun, see if you can flip the boss on it's hind. ;)

The 4th weapon Login to edit this tip
The 4-th primary weapon is overpowered even at level 1, that's the only weapon for me.
Combined with the 3-rd one (auto aiming laser) and a few nukes it gives more than enough for easy flawless play

To Get More MONEY Login to edit this tip
During episode battles, you get freebies like free " 5 smart rockets", etc.

Make sure you grab these bonuses. When the level is done & you get to upgrade your weapons/ship as well as buy stuff, just simply click on the minus sign (-) of whatever free missiles you've collected along the way.
Disposing of these freebies gives you back the money they're supposedly worth.

Of course, you can always keep the ones you'll be needing. Collecting a lot of these items could mean thousands of money for you.

(I personally do this and it's absolutely easy money = easy upgrades!
I hardly use rockets/missiles at all, I depend on my fully upgraded weapons, as well as my very improved ship which is why I preffer money against missiles. Although I do make sure to leave myself enough rockets/missiles for the boss at the end of each world.)

    The Bonuses:

Every once in a while, you’ll be able to snag a bonus after destroying an enemy ship.

Bonuses are usually extra money or missiles but you can also get special shields that make you invincible for a short time or repair bonuses to your shields.

The key is to snag the bonus without getting hit by enemy fire.

The best way to do that is bide your time…
you’ll have a little bit of time to snag the bonuses so wait until it gets a little closer and then zoom in, grab it and zoom back out.
