Addictive

A refreshing spin on the done-to-death Bubble Bobble.

Aquabble Avalanche pits you up against a pond full of multi-coloured bubbles and a race against time.
The classic rules apply, match up 3 or more of the same coloured bubble to pop them and rack up points.
Although this genre of game has been overdone it's nice to see a fresh spin placed on it.

Aquabble Avalanche has a soothing feel to it, and if you put the game in quiet mode it allows you to carefully plot out your moves with no timer.
The sounds, whilst not the highest quality, do the game justice and lend a relaxing sensation to the player.

The aim of the game is, naturally, to clear the screen of bubbles...1 colour at a time.

Various items affect your game as you progress.
Magnets to pull the bubbles back 1 line.
Submarines will 'sink' all bubbles of the corresponding colour.
Pencils will trace your shots allowing you to pull off some pretty impressive rebound shots.

All in all, it is just another bubble bobble clone, but if you're going to play///purchase one, i'd say that this is the way to go.

Solid all round package =]

Not the prettiest...

But not the worst (probably).
My biggest issue with this game was having to start over at level 1 all the time. I'd gotten used to being able to just restart a level if I messed up (it even does that in Bubble Shooter, however aggravating that game gets)... It obviously isn't required for all games to allow you to redo a level, but it's nice I think.

I'm also not someone who studies each and every object on the screen... I glance at the colour ball I'm using and at the field for a moment (you can't afford to waste a lot of time in the later levels) ...So more often than not I'd mistake a piggy bank for a submarine, and would be disappointed that I didn't clear the level yet. I think if those two power-ups were a little more unique-looking it would have helped.

There are a lot of games of this type and this one isn't particularly remarkable (in my opinion)... But it really just depends on who's playing. All I can say is try the demo and see if the game strikes you differently than it had me.
(I own it so I do play it, but only if I'm waiting for something... That's one good thing about this game; it doesn't have a thousand screens to click through when you want to exit)
