KEEPING IT REAL

True, the match-3 is a very saturated genre, and while a lot of games are pushing alternate gameplay features, it still remains that there is a standard for "fun". I will go out on a limb and say that I am not among those who are disappointed with this game.

It's again, a question of making a decent game that is completely playable and re-playable. Sure, Azkend, Amazonia and Glyph really dazzle with their graphics and fireworks, and are EXCELLENT games. But it still remains that some games manage to hit the mark by shooting straight: Age of Japan 2, is such a title.

If anything, AoJ2 beats a lot of games in the upgrade department. With all the "do this, build that", a lot of promising games end up being linear experiences that wind up being the same each time around: and the user reviews of seasoned players will attest to that.

This game is much more along the lines of Deep Blue Sea, but with a non-linear upgrade system allowing you to truly customize gameplay. It lets you SPEND and choose your upgrades, which means that you are entitled to struggle and save up, and get your performance boost later on in the game.

In the shop, you can purchase special tile upgrades, or, invest in your Samurai armor and use off-the-board power ups that charge up with made matches. It allows for tweaked strategy and cutting through levels effectively.

Age of Japan 2, don't be so quick to discard it, especially if you were let down by Age of Japan.

Another match 3

Zzzz... Yet another boring match 3 type game. It's been done hundreds of times before, and this offers nothing new.

Save yourself some time and wait until something fresher & different comes along.

same old

age of japan II sounds great! until u find out its your classic 3-match game, nothing new about this concept as everything has been done in the 3-match games now. it all depends on how you want it to look. its a shame that no one can come up with a new twist to this style of game. if you have never played a 3-mstch game, this is prob the best you could get but to vets of games dont expect anything different from your usual style of game.
